Synopsis: When a young girl named Fern becomes attached to Wilbur, the runt of the latest pig litter, her father agrees to let her raise him in his uncle's barn.

Fern spends her free time with Wilbur and the other barn animals who reveal the shocking secret that Wilbur is fated to become Christmas dinner.

A large grey spider named Charlotte A. Cavatica befriends Wilbur and takes matters into her own (eight) hands, realizing that it will take more than Fern's love to save him this time. With the help of Templeton the Rat and some expert weaving of her magical web, Charlotte sets out to prove that Wilbur is too valuable to end up at someone's plate.

In the process, the humans and the animals all discover the value of true friendship.
