MENTAL HEALTH WORRIES OVER UK BIG BROTHER

Mental health charities are urging British TV network Channel 4 to stop exploiting vulnerable people on their reality show BIG BROTHER.

British organisations Mind and Sane are planning to file a formal protest to television regulatory body Ofcom after five "unstable" housemates were selected to live in the Big Brother house for up to 13 weeks.

Former housemate SHAHBAZ CHAUHDRY quit the show after threatening to kill himself, while current housemate LEA WALKER suffers from body dysmorphia, NIKKI GRAHAME has had an eating disorder and PETE STEPHENSON has tourette's syndrome.

New housemate SAM PRODIE, a pre-op transsexual, is thought to have mental health issues.

A Mind spokesman says, "We have grave concerts about the programme. We will studying recent footage from Channel 4 in preparation for a complaint to Ofcom.

MARJORIE WALLACE, chief executive of Sane, adds, "The show is playing fast and loose with people's lives."
