LATEST: A man accused of stalking SANDRA BULLOCK was ordered yesterday (31MAY06) to keep his distance from the actress until 2009.
THOMAS JAMES WELDON was under a Los Angeles court order that took effect in 2003, demanding that he remain at least 200 feet (61 metres) away from Bullock.
The actress claims Weldon followed her across several states and barraged her with faxes and emails.
The 2003 restraining order was due to expire on 5 June (05) and Bullock was seeking an extension.
The MISS CONGENIALITY star said in court documents, "I do not know defendant, I have never met him and I have never communicated with him nor voluntarily accepted any communication from him."
Bullock and Weldon did not appear in court for Wednesday's hearing.
Weldon has been incarcerated at the Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute for the past three years and is set to be released in September (06).
The star's attorney, EDWIN F McPHERSON, said after the decision, "I think she can feel a little bit safer now."
