Troubled rocker COURTNEY LOVE has admitted her late husband KURT COBAIN did attempt to commit suicide while on tour in Rome, Italy, in 1994.
On 4 March 1994, Love awoke in her hotel room to find the NIRVANA frontman unconscious after overdosing on champagne and Rohypnol. After he was rushed to hospital and revived, Love and the band's publicists claimed the overdose was an accident.
But following Cobain's suicide the following month (APR94), Love slowly realised it had been a genuine attempt by Cobain to take his life, and he even left a suicide note.
In new memoir DIRTY BLONDE: THE DIARIES OF COURTNEY, Love wrote in the aftermath of her husband's death, "Rome was a huge cover-up.
"I see it now. I just didn't want to see it then. Last night, I re-read the note he left in Rome. It's so obviously a suicide note, so f**king obvious."
