COYNE TELLS GRADUATES TO AVOID JELLYFISH

Coyne, who attended Classen in the late-1970s, thrilled students, who invited the rocker to speak at their graduation ceremony, with tales from his life as a drug dealer, admitting, "It's a wonder I did not end up going to jail."

The FIGHT TEST hitmaker was forced to videotape his speech due to concert commitments in San Diego, California, but still managed to wow the Classen graduates with his profound thoughts and messages.

He said, "We are not what we dream. We are what we do, and all we have is action, and we can only really learn from experience. So if we can only learn from experience, what use is all this knowledge?"

He then spent much of his speech telling a story about a friend who was stung by a jellyfish while holidaying in Mexico and was told to drink tequila by a doctor to numb the pain.

Coyne added, "So here's this doctor, thinking he has knowledge, but he has no experience. And here's (my friend), having this horrible experience, but with no formal knowledge. It's like throwing a hot dog to try to stop a tornado: You get the same damage done, but now everything's covered with meat and mustard... We should avoid jellyfish no matter what, and we've learned that pain - if it's severe enough - trumps all logic in the human brain."
