IAN COPELAND DIES
Pioneering music promoter IAN COPELAND has died from cancer at the age of 57.

As booking agents, Copeland and his brother MILES are credited with launching the alternative rock movement of the 1970s and 80s, helping bands like REM, POLICE, the B-52's and SQUEEZE find success. His other brother STEWART was the Police's drummer.
The pair also helped pave the way for the punk rock and new wave scene in the US.
Copeland, also a Vietnam veteran, died at his Los Angeles home on Tuesday (23MAY06), surrounded by family members.
He is survived by two daughters, his brothers and a sister LORRAINE.
