FREDDIE AND THE DREAMERS frontman FREDDIE GARRITY died in hospital yesterday (19MAY06) after suffering circulation problems. He was 65.
British singer Garrity passed away in Bangor, Wales, where he was on holiday with his wife CHRISTINE.
Manchester-born Garrity, famed for his thick glasses and quirky dance moves, stormed the charts in the 1960s with hits including YOU WERE MADE FOR ME.
Family friend ERIC ST JOHN-FOTI says, "He was so full of life, and full of jokes. He was exactly the same as he was on stage, he did not have two personas.
"It is a sad loss, Freddie was part of the 1960s and drew comparisons with THE BEATLES."
