EDITORS DISMISS JOY DIVISION COMPARISONS

The EDITORS frontman TOM SMITH is baffled to find himself compared to JOY DIVISION frontman IAN CURTIS, because he's never even heard the band play.

At 25, Smith wasn't even born when Curtis committed suicide in 1980, so the band find being nicknamed nickname BOY DIVISION by the music press frustrating.

The singer insists, "It annoys me when people use it as a way of dismissing our music because we take what we do very seriously.

"To be honest, I've never even seen live footage of Ian Curtis performing, but from what I understand his performance was governed by some sort of illness."
