JACKSON'S BATTLE AT CANNES

SAMUEL L JACKSON is struggling with the champagne-charged atmosphere at the Cannes Film Festival in France this month (MAY06), as he is relentlessly tempted to slip back into alcoholism.

The PULP FICTION star is having to strengthen his resolve to get through the constant round of parties.

He says, "People who've been through what I went through are always going to be tempted.

"I enjoyed drinking and I enjoyed taking drugs.

"But here I have to remind myself every day that I can't have a drink."
