HALLIWELL HAS LITTLE GIRL

Former Spice Girls star Geri Halliwell gave birth to a baby daughter last night. (Sunday, 14th May 2006)

The 33-year-old was not due to go into labour until the end of the month, but her first child was safely delivered by Caesarean section at London's exclusive Portland Hospital.

The baby was delivered by leading obstetrician Malcolm Gillard who was recommended by Halliwell's ex-bandmate and friend Victoria Beckham - Gillard delivered her first son Brooklyn and flew especially to Madrid, Spain, to oversee the birth of her third son with David Beckham, Cruz.

Halliwell's mother Anna Maria was with her throughout the birth - the child's father Sacha Gervasi split with the Wannabe singer after a six-week fling and has since been frozen out of her pregnancy.

A hospital source says, "The birth went well. Mother and daughter are doing fine."
