British rocker RICHARD ASHCROFT insists he looks to MORRISSEY and IAN BROWN as mentors when life as a solo artist gets tough.

Ashcroft, who went his own way after THE VERVE parted company, admits he often suffers from self-doubt.
But he just looks at fellow Northern contemporaries Morrissey, former frontman of THE SMITHS, and ex-STONE ROSES singer Brown, who are successfully going it alone to get inspired again.
He says, "So many things have changed for me personally - the journey through fame and the band splitting up, becoming a solo artist.
"Sometimes I've wondered if I've made the right decisions. But once the pain of rebirth has gone away, I understand it was necessary to go through that.
"It gives me tremendous heart. I think if these lads can do it then I can carve out a career too."
