VOODOO CLEANSED PATTON

Rocker MIKE PATTON once had his spirit cleansed in a voodoo ceremony.

The former FAITH NO MORE frontman was present at a ceremony in Brazil where he witnessed the "incarnation of a spirit" which possessed an old woman who then became a man.

Patton says, "She asked people to form a line and said she was going to break each person down, and my friends said, 'Let's get out of here!' I was like, 'Are you kidding me? Now?'

"So I stayed, and what she said was pretty right on. She said I had a soiled spirit and that it wasn't necessarily my fault, but a lot of people wished me harm, and that I needed to be stripped down, cleaned and redressed with protection.

"So she took out a f**king rose branch with thorns on it and started scratching me all over the place, my arms, up on my shoulders - it hurt like crazy.

"And I was like, 'Man, this better be good.' And she said, 'Yeah, I'm cleaning you off right now.' Scratching all this s**t off me. But I felt great afterwards. It was pretty overwhelming.

"Do I necessarily believe in all of it? No. But I think it's a good way to go. You could believe in a lot worse things."
