A JIMI HENDRIX biopic is set to be axed after London's High Court refused American filmmakers the rights to the guitarist's likeness or music.
Despite their earlier claims that rights had been secured, Dragonslayer Films and director JOHN HILLMAN have been told they must seek permission from Experience Hendrix, which is run by the later rocker's daughter JANIE.
Just last month (APR06) Dragonslayer claimed to have been given the go ahead to make the movie and even announced QUENTIN TARANTINO as director.
But the project looks doomed. Speaking after the ruling Janie Hendrix said, "We will certainly rely on this judgment in protecting our rights against any other parties who make unauthorised use of Hendrix songs and recordings under the guise of the Hillman claim."
