RAPPER BIG HAWK SHOT DEAD
Underground rapper BIG HAWK was shot dead in Houston, Texas, on Monday night (01MAY06).
Hawk - real name JOHN EDWARD HAWKINS - was a member of DJ SCREW's collective the SCREWED UP CLICK, which specialised in Houston's slowed-down take on hip-hop.
The 36-year-old arranged to meet an associate on Monday night, but he was early so he walked to side of his friend's house from his car, where he was shot multiple times.
A witness spotted a white compact car with tinted windows loitering shortly before the murder, but police have yet to uncover any more leads.
Hawkins' rapper brother FAT PAT was murdered in 1998.
