DAY SENTENCED TO PROBATION FOR AIR RAGE

American popstar HOWIE DAY has been sentenced to a year's probation after misbehaving on an internal US flight last year (DEC05).

The COLLIDE hitmaker, 25, was charged with interfering with a flight crew on an American Airlines flight from Dallas, Texas to Boston, Massachusetts, on 21 December (05).

Prosecutors claimed the singer smoked onboard, kicked the back of fellow passengers' chairs and verbally abused flight attendants.

Day's lawyer PAUL V KELLY told the East Boston District Court yesterday (26APR06), his client had taken a sleeping pill and a couple of alcoholic drinks, but claims the prosecutors have "overblown" what really happened.

As well as a year's probation, Day must complete an alcohol counselling program and write apology letters to the airline, passengers, captain and flight attendant.
