DOHERTY OUT OF COURT, INTO CUSTODY

Troubled British rocker PETE DOHERTY has been arrested by police again, just hours after appearing in court.

The BABYSHAMBLES frontman was taken into custody on suspicion of drugs possession with intent to supply yesterday afternoon (20APR06), along with an unidentified man.

A police spokesman confirmed, "A 27-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were arrested after a vehicle was stopped in Roman Road, east London, by plain clothed officers who were carrying out a patrol in an unmarked police car.

"They were arrested on suspicion of possessing what was believed to be class A drugs with the intent to supply."

Just hours before the arrest, a London judge ordered Doherty to spend 18 months attending a drugs rehabilitation programme after he pleaded guilty to possessing heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis.

The rocker, who had faced prison over the charges, was also placed on a two-year supervision order and banned from driving for six months at the hearing.
