BURSTYN'S QUEST FOR A REPLACEMENT OSCAR

Movie veteran ELLEN BURSTYN is keen for one more Oscar so she can replace her tarnished statuette.

THE EXORCIST star, 73, won a Best Actress Academy Award for her role in ALICE DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE in the mid-1970s, and now she wants a second Oscar because her 30-year-old prize isn't glistening anymore.

She explains, "I want one more Oscar because my Oscar's got really old. Did you know they get old and pitted and they fall apart?

"I've just had to send it in for repairs (and) once you send your Oscar in for repairs you know it's time to get another one."

As well as winning an Oscar in 1974, Burstyn has been nominated for a Best Actress honour another four times, and once competed for a Best Supporting Actress gong for THE LAST PICTURE SHOW.
