British novelist DAME MURIEL SPARK, best-selling author of THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE, has died. She was 88.
The writer - who penned more than 20 other novels - passed away on Thursday (13APR06) in a hospital in Florence, Italy.
Her funeral was held yesterday (15APR06) in the small village of Civitella Della Chiana - where she lived since leaving her home-town of Edinburgh in the 1960s.
