LATEST: Beleaguered Death Row Records boss MARION 'SUGE' KNIGHT is already making plans for the future after filing for bankruptcy on Tuesday (04APR06).
The hip-hop mogul filed for bankruptcy to protect his beloved music label from going into receivership, after the firm spiralled into $100 million (GBP57 million) of debt.
Knight's financial problems follow a failed legal battle with ex-couple LYDIA and MICHAEL HARRIS, who claimed they helped found Death Row and were awarded $107 million (GBP61 million) last year (05).
In a statement, Knight says, "For the last few years there's been a stigma attached to Death Row.
"People like the Harrises have been coming out of the woodwork and it's been like a dark cloud hanging over me.
"I've decided that I'm serving Death Row its last meal. I'm setting a new table."
Knight also plans to bring forward a court motion claiming the Harrises and their lawyers violated bankruptcy law by their unsuccessful attempt on Tuesday to persuade Los Angeles Superior Court judge RONALD SOHIGIAN to cite the rap svengali for criminal contempt for his failure to appear at debtor hearings.
