Actress GABRIELLE UNION is fighting for better-funded rape crisis centres across America, insisting she could never have recovered from her own ordeal without vital post-attack help.
The star was sexually assaulted aged 19 when she was working as a shop assistant, and now she's urging America's politicians to make sure there is as much help as possible for victims.
Union visited congress in Washington DC yesterday (05APR06) as part of the seventh annual National Domestic Violence + Sexual Assault Legislative Action Days.
In a press conference the 33-year-old told politicians, "The hardest part is over for me. I lived in a community where a rape crisis centre was not only funded but adequately staffed."
