DAY-LEWIS: '9/11 MADE ME LOVE NEW YORK'

Actor DANIEL DAY-LEWIS fell in love with New York City as a result of the tragic events of September 11th (01) - because it forced him to see the Big Apple from a different perspective.

The GANGS OF NEW YORK star witnessed the horrific moment when the Twin Towers fell, and after initially hating New York, he suddenly felt a deep sympathy for the city.

He says, "I saw the second plane go into the building. I had my boy (RONAN) in my arms.

"I now love New York. I got to know it then.

"I talked to the fireman who was next door, who had lost six of his friends. It changed everything I think."
