MOTTOLA FIGHTS LOCALS OVER LAND

Music mogul TOMMY MOTTOLA has sparked a bitter property dispute after erecting a "tasteless" mansion and restrictive signs in the exclusive Westchester County area of New York State.

Mottola, formerly married to MARIAH CAREY, bought the land in 2001 and has since built a sprawling mansion and forbidden neighbours to horse ride over the property.

A source tells the New York Daily News, "People around here let each other ride across their land but Mr Mottola put up big red and white 'No Trespassing' signs."

The local adds, "His house is a neo-gothic chateau that's totally tasteless."

Mottola prompted another backlash by axing a string of trees in front of the mansion.

North Salem building inspector BRUCE THOMPSON says, "We never divulge who files complaints. But I did receive notice of some clearing. I discovered that trees were being cut beyond what the permit outlines as the 'limits of disturbance'."

The trees have since been replanted.
