Enterprising NO DOUBT star TONY KANAL is set to launch his own reggae record label.
The rocker will debut reggae sensation ELAN on his Kingsbury Studios label this spring (06). Elan's album TOGETHER AS ONE features a duet with Kanal's No Doubt bandmate and ex-girlfriend GWEN STEFANI.
Kanal reveals Elan's is the perfect debut for his first release because he was inspired to start his own label after watching the reggae star perform in 1998 with BOB MARLEY's backing band THE WAILERS.
He tells Billboard.com, "I, along with everyone in the audience, was amazed to see this kid do justice to Bob's vocals.
"It wasn't until 2003 that Elan and I had the chance to get in the studio and start writing together. He proved himself to be a great songwriter and an amazing vocalist."
It won't be the first time Elan and Stefani have worked together - they previously collaborated on a cover of BRYAN FERRY's SLAVE TO LOVE for the 50 FIRST DATES soundtrack.
