SPIKE LEE's acclaimed new bank heist thriller INSIDE MAN has shot to the top of the US box office with a $28.9 million (GBP17 million) opening weekend.
The clever film, which pits detective DENZEL WASHINGTON against bank robber CLIVE OWEN, debuted at the top, ending V FOR VENDETTA's one-week reign.
Meanwhile, shock horror movie STAY ALIVE debuted at three and comedy film LARRY THE CABLE GUY: HEALTH INSPECTOR entered the top 10 at number seven.
