Jazz clarinetist PETE FOUNTAIN is recovering well after undergoing quadruple bypass heart surgery on Monday (20MAR06).
The musician was already up and walking again Tuesday (21MAR06), according to Fountain's agent, BENNY HARRELL.
The 75-year-old Fountain had to miss a Friday night (17MAR06) benefit performance in New Orleans, Louisiana, because doctors had advised him not to play.
Harrell says, "He's doing great. He looks good. He's already up and around."
Fountain had been feeling ill since the Mardi Gras last month (FEB06).
His HALF FAST MARCHING CLUB made its trek down St Charles Avenue without him on Fat Tuesday for the first time in 46 years.
Fountain, a New Orleans native, lost his $1.5 million (GBP880,000) house, as well as his gold records and 10 musical instruments when Hurricane Katrina hit the US Gulf Coast last August (05).
