DIDDY TO APPEAL NOTORIOUS BIG RULING

LATEST: Bad Boy Entertainment mogul SEAN 'DIDDY' COMBS has launched an appeal against the sales ban imposed on NOTORIOUS BIG's breakthrough album READY TO DIE.

On Friday (17MAR06), a jury decided the late rapper's title track features an illegal sample of the OHIO PLAYERS' 1992 song SINGING IN THE MORNING, and US District Judge Todd Campbell awarded $4.2 million (GBP2.5 million) in damages to Bridgeport Music and Westbound Records.

The sales ban imposed in a Nashville, Tennessee, courthouse not only covers shops, but also internet downloads and radio play.

However, lawyers representing Combs and Bad Boy Entertainment are confident their appeal will overturn the original ruling.

A spokesperson tells AllHipHop.com, "The verdict was erroneous and against the great weight of the evidence.

"We are very confident that it will be reversed on appeal."
