KAPLAN APPROVES OF KOTTER CASTING

Actor GABE KAPLAN is thrilled rapper ICE CUBE is taking over the role he made famous in hit US TV show WELCOME BACK, KOTTER.

The big screen remake of the popular show will be moved from Brooklyn, New York to South Central Los Angeles.

He says, "I think it's totally acceptable. I think that the setting is going to be in South Central LA.

"(Ice Cube) is going to be just like how I was in Brooklyn.

"The guys are going to be there in their 2006 and 2007 version, so I think it could work and I think he is the perfect guy, he has shown what kind of cross-over appeal he has."

Kaplan joked about possible casting the other roles, saying, "Well, I think SNOOP DOGG will play HORSHACK, VANILLA ICE would play BARBARINO."
