MORRISSEY TURNED DOWN $5 MILLION TO REFORM THE SMITHS

Iconic British group THE SMITHS turned down millions to reunite and headline this summer's (06) Coachella Valley Arts + Music Festival in California.

Former frontman MORRISSEY admits he has been offered huge amounts of money to reform the feuding group, which has famously fought over royalties and copyright issues, but the latest one was the biggest to date.

He says, "If people must know, it was $5 million."

Morrissey admits he didn't even consider the offer, adding, "Money doesn't come into it."

But the mournful HOW SOON IS NOW? singer confesses he's still upset about the way The Smiths ended - after guitarist JOHNNY MARR decided to quit - in the late 1980s.

He adds, "It was a fantastic journey. And then it ended. I didn't feel we should have ended. I wanted to continue."
