GLITTER TO APPEAL CONVICTION

Disgraced British rocker GARY GLITTER is to appeal his child abuse conviction and three-year jail sentence, maintaining the evidence against him was "unreliable" and "unreasonable".

His lawyer LE THANH KINH said yesterday (15MAR06) that one of the young Vietnamese witnesses in the March (06) trial - an 11-year-old identified only as NG - had "never complained" of her treatment before the scandal surfaced in the press.

He says, "She knew the truth but never complained until it all came out in the newspapers."

Glitter - real name PAUL GADD - is expected back in court in three month for the appeal.

Only last week (11MAR06) the singer's lawyer had maintained, "He is quite happy where he is. Life might be harder if he appeals."
