KAISER CHIEFS RULE OUT SOCCER ANTHEM

British rockers KAISER CHIEFS have rubbished reports they are to support their national soccer team at the Football World Cup this summer (06) by recording a rousing anthem.

The I PREDICT A RIOT hitmakers were tipped alongside former girl group the SPICE GIRLS and NEW ORDER to be England's soundtrack to the contest in Germany.

They even had the support of the Football Association who informed a British newspaper this weekend (11-12MAR06) it was "not ruling the Kaiser Chiefs out".

However, a statement from the band ends speculation once and for all.

It reads, "We're flattered about these rumours regarding the England football team's World Cup song, but there's no truth in them, they are just rumours.

"The only writing we'll be doing in the next few months will be for our next album. We have no plans to write the England football team's World Cup song. Sorry to dispel the myth."
