BEATRICE SPLITS FROM BOYFRIEND

British royal PRINCESS BEATRICE has split with her American socialite boyfriend PAULO LIUZZO following pressure from her mother SARAH FERGUSON, DUCHESS OF YORK to end the romance.

The 17-year-old has been dating the New Yorker for several months and went public with the romance during a family skiing trip last month (FEB06) - but her mother and father PRINCE ANDREW were unaware he once faced manslaughter charges.

Liuzzo stood accused of manslaughter following the death of student JOHNATHAN DUCHATELLIER after a drunken brawl in 2004, but he avoided prison after making a guilty plea on lesser charges.

After discovering his controversial past, Ferguson urged her daughter to severe all ties with the 24-year-old, despite his complete honesty about the incident.

A royal insider tells British newspaper the Mail On Sunday, "Fergie and Andrew didn't know Paolo would be coming on the trip until the very last minute. They were terribly shocked when they learned about his past.

"But now Beatrice has told Paolo their friendship is over. She has realised that she needs to choose her friends carefully."
