JACKSON PAY DISPUTE COULD GO TO COURT

LATEST: MICHAEL JACKSON could face another court appearance if he fails to pay staff on his closed Neverland Ranch overdue wages by Tuesday (14MAR06).

State regulators made the threat after shutting down the 2,800-acre (1,130-hectare) estate on Thursday (09MAR06) and fining the THRILLER singer and his ranch operators $100,000 (GBP58,800) after discovering his workers' compensation policy lapsed in January (06).

Jackson is also due to settle the $306,000 (GBP180,000) in back pay he owes to nearly 50 workers at his Neverland Ranch.

DEAN FRYER, a spokesman for the California Department of Industrial Relations, said, "If they don't comply then we file suit to get a judgment.

"It's pretty clear that they owe this money. We've got all these wage claims. People are telling me they haven't been paid from December 19."

Jackson's spokeswoman RAYMONE BAIN said, "He's been made aware. I'm sure this will be resolved."

The singer has been living with his three children in Bahrain since July (05) - one month after he was acquitted of all charges in his child molestation trial.
