The secrets behind the PIXIES reunion are set to be revealed in a new documentary.
LOUDQUIETLOUD: A FILM ABOUT THE PIXIES, which premieres at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas on Sunday (12MAR06), chronicles the cult group's year-long 2004/2005 reunion tour.
Filmmaker STEVEN CANTOR, who was granted personal access to the group members on and off-stage, reveals his film depicts just how fractured relationships within the indie supergroup, which split in 1992, still are.
He tells Billboard.com, "It's not that they despise one another, they are just not the types of people who talk a lot. They would barely talk to each other in the van, get to the venue and go to their dressing rooms and warm up on their own, read or listen to music.
"Then, when they got on stage, there was this electric energy and connection with each other and the audience. And then again, once they walked off stage, they would barely say another word to each other."
The revealing documentary also covers bass player KIM DEAL's struggle with sobriety, drummer DAVID LOVERING's floundering career as a magician prior to the reunion and frontman FRANK BLACK struggling with his relationship with his then-pregnant girlfriend.
