WILLIAMS INVESTS IN HOMETOWN SOCCER CLUB

Pop superstar ROBBIE WILLIAMS has invested up to $450,000 (GBP260,000) in a cash-strapped English soccer club he has supported his whole life.

The FEEL singer has bought up all the remaining shares in League One team Port Vale, the club's chairman BILL BRATT has confirmed.

At the beginning of February (06), $450,000 (GBP260,000) worth of shares in Port Vale remained. The exact amount Williams invested has not been confirmed.

Williams, who grew up in Stoke-On-Trent where the club is based but now resides in Los Angeles, says, "Although I can't be at Vale often enough, my investment is just to say my heart is still there and I'm a huge supporter.

"I'm really excited about what we may be able to do."

Chairman Bratt adds, "I'm extremely pleased and excited that Robbie has invested."
