JESSE'S DATELESS

Desperate Housewives spunk Jesse Metcalfe – the bloke envied by men and lusted after by women the world over – hit town yesterday ahead of the D&D Ball on Saturday night.

Metcalfe is expected to lure hundreds of smitten singles to the Luna Park do, but take heed, while he admits he's dateless, he's anything but desperate.

In fact 27-year-old Metcalfe has a strict rule when it comes to dating: Desperate Housewives devotees don't make the cut. No wonder he's single.

"I don't make a habit of dating fans," Metcalfe – weary from a night out in Melbourne – told Confidential yesterday.

"I want girls to like me for me, not for the character I play on a TV show."

But it's hard to argue that there's some serious perks that come with playing a buffed and bronzed toy boy on TV's hottest drama.

Getting it on with Eva Longoria – aka Mrs Solis – for one.

"I have a great relationship with Eva, she's a good friend and the people I work with are what I like best about being on the show," Metcalfe said. "It's nice that people think I'm attractive – everyone wants to be desired – but I don't walk around on a daily basis thinking I'm a sex symbol or anything."

In Sydney to "hang out" with Steve, a mate of eight years, Metcalfe said he was looking forward to visiting Bondi before returning to LA on Sunday.
