WILLIE NELSON paid tribute to soldiers injured in Iraq during a free gig he performed for patients at an army hospital in Texas on Friday (17FEB06).
The country star warmed up for a concert in San Antonio by entertaining troops at the Brooke Army Medical Center - and played a staggering 22 tracks to an ecstatic audience.
The 72-year-old, a US Air Force veteran, said, "I have a lot of respect for the military. I like to show them that I support them every chance I get. We get as much out of it as (the soldiers)."
