BONO FIGHTS POVERTY WITH BRAZILIAN PRESIDENT

Campaigning rocker BONO met with Brazilian President LUIZ INACIO LULA da SILVA yesterday (19FEB06), to discuss making poverty history.

The singer flew to the capital Brasilia for a meeting with 'Lula' and Culture minister GILBERTO GIL, ahead of U2's concerts in Sao Paolo tonight and tomorrow (20+21FEB06).

The WITH OR WITHOUT YOU rocker is hopeful their shared passion for fighting poverty will change the world.

Bono said after arriving in the city, "It is a dream to be here because Lula is fighting against poverty not only here but also in Africa. I feel very enthusiastic about it."

U2's first gig in Brazil comes just 48 hours after THE ROLLING STONES brought Rio de Janeiro to a standstill on Saturday night (18FEB06) with a free gig for two million fans on Copacabana beach.
