MELUA AILING AT BRIT AWARDS

Jazz singer KATIE MELUA had a doubly bad night at the Brit Awards last night (15FEB06) - she went home empty-handed and is nursing a sore throat.

The CLOSEST THING TO CRAZY hitmaker, 21 was forced to cancel a concert in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Tuesday night (14FEB06) due to her ailment, and despite her ailment, attended the London ceremony.

Melua lost out to KT TUNSTALL and JAMES BLUNT in the British Female Solo Artist and Pop Act categories respectively.

A spokeswoman for Melua says, "Katie attended the Brit Awards. Her voice is gone so she would have been very quiet. If she's anything to say, it will be said in whispers."
