GEORGE CLOONEY'S CLEAN BOTTOM

George Clooney celebrated his Oscar nominations by getting his bum examined.

The actor - who is up for three awards for movies 'Goodnight and Good Luck' and 'Syriana' - says it helps calms his nerves.

He is quoted on website Entertainment Weekly: "I scheduled it when I knew that the nominations were coming because I figured any news is good news after that.

The 44-year-old actor-turned- filmmaker, who won a Golden Globe for 'O Brother, Where Art Thou', has never been short-listed for an Academy Award before.

Meanwhile, Clooney recently revealed that 2005 was the worst year of his life.

The 44-year-old star said: "When I started 'Syriana' I had gone through a series of sort of unhappy times.

"On my way to Morocco (where Syriana was filmed), leaving my house, there was a rattlesnake wrapped around my dog with its teeth in the back of his head.

He added: "It was just one thing after another too. My brother-in-law, who was 46 years old, stood up and had a heart attack and died."
