POLICE TO QUIZ RHYMES OVER BODYGUARD MURDER

LATEST: Rapper BUSTA RHYMES is to be questioned by police after his bodyguard was murdered on the celebrity-packed set of a music video in the early hours of Sunday (05FEB06) morning.

Rhymes - real name TREVOR SMITH - is one of a handful of potential witnesses who left the scene in Brooklyn, New York, before cops arrived, according to the city's police commissioner.

ISRAEL RAMIREZ, 29, was shot once in the chest as he stood outside a warehouse where stars including Rhymes, MISSY ELLIOTT and G-UNIT rappers LLOYD BANKS and TONY YAYO had gathered to shoot a promo.

Police commissioner RAYMOND KELLY says, "We believe Busta Rhymes may have been on the street when the shooting took place.

"Obviously, we're very much interested in the filming that went on. So all of that film with be examined with a subpoena."

Regarding the possibility the killing might be linked to an earlier argument, Kelly adds, "There was some pushing and shoving going on when an individual took out a gun and fired at least eight shots."

Rhymes' spokesman GREG MILLER refused to comment, according to the New York Daily News.
