GREAT WHITE MANAGER PLEADS GUILTY TO 100 MANSLAUGHTER CHARGES

LATEST: Heavy rock group GREAT WHITE's former manager will plead guilty to 100 counts of involuntary manslaughter stemming from April 2003's deadly nightclub fire.

Superior court judge FRANCIS DARIGAN, 29, announced yesterday (31JAN06) that DANIEL BIECHELE has agreed to change his plea to guilty on some counts, in order to receive a reduced jail sentence.

Biechele will enter the plea next week (beg06FEB06) and serve no more than 10 years in prison under the terms of a deal he made with prosecutors.

The former manager was originally indicted on 200 counts of involuntary manslaughter for unintentionally starting a fire when he ignited pyrotechnics during a Great White concert.

The blaze burned down the Station nightclub in Rhode Island, killing 100 people and injuring more than 200 others.

Diane Mattera, who lost her 29-year-old daughter, Tammy in the fire, condemns the move, "For the 100 victims, and for all the ones that are burned and scarred and everything else, they deserve much more than this - not a plea bargain. This is absolutely wrong."
