SIR ELTON JOHN fears his wedding to DAVID FURNISH will be hijacked by anti-gay protesters later today (21DEC05) and has hired an army of undercover cops to police the occasion.
The KISS THE BRIDE hitmaker was horrified when Northern Ireland's first gay civil unions were marred by demonstrating Christian fundamentalist groups earlier this week (begs19DEC05), and has determined not to let anyone ruin his special day.
A police insider tells British newspaper The Sun, "We don't want a hint of trouble. Even just anyone trying to throw an egg."
John and Furnish will exchange vows in the same Windsor, England, venue as British royal PRINCE CHARLES and CAMILLA, DUCHESS OF CORNWALL, who wed in April (05).
A spokesman for Thames Valley police said on Friday (16DEC05): "Any extra policing costs incurred as a result of the event will not be met by the residents of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
"They will be met by the organisers."
