HEMINGWAY'S HEIRS SUE BAR OWNER

Late author ERNEST HEMINGWAY's heirs are suing the owner of a Greensboro, North Carolina, bar in a bid to change its name.

JEFF SCHLEUNING claims he named the bar Hemingway's Downtown after his English bulldog, but the A FAREWELL TO ARMS writer's relatives have filed a lawsuit in US Middle District Court claiming trademark infringement and unfair competition.

JOHN F MORROW JR, a lawyer representing the plaintiffs, says, "Regardless of who the establishment was named after, it really would not matter.

"The question is whether there is consumer confusion over the source of the name."

Schleuning, who claims to know nothing about the lawsuit, insists nothing about the bar evokes Hemingway, explaining, "We're actually the kind of bar he would despise coming to."
