George Lucas is giving back to our Civil Rights King.
Lucas is giving about a million dollars to the National Mall. The National mall is designing a memorial for one of the greatest leaders of all time: Martin Luther King, Jr. Lucas is honored to give this token to the memory of the great civil rights leader. He thinks that the American people are still living by Dr. King's accomplishments and should continue. George wants to dedicate his contribution to having Martin Luther King's words and dreams live on. There are several other famous people contributing to the memorial like Colin Powell (Secretary of State) and Jack Valenti (President of the Motion Picture of AA). For this grand project there has been over $40 Million raised for the memorial. The National Mall organization needs only $60 million more to complete this monument. The memorial was passed in Congress nine years ago. The memorial will be placed near the Lincoln memorial. Groundbreaking will be exactly a year from now.
