BILLBOARD CENTURY AWARD TO PETTY

Tom Petty will be presented with the Century Award in early December.

The billboard century award is one of the most prestigious awards for creative achievement in the music business. Tom Petty will receive this award at this year's Billboard Music Award ceremony on December 6, 2005 in Las Vegas. It will be televised live on Fox. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are going into their thirtieth year of playing music together. Petty and the Heartbreakers feel very special to be receiving such an award. Other musicians who have received this honor in the past: George Harrison, Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana and Annie Lennox just to name a few, according to Miami Herald. The funny thing is Petty announced George Harrison when he received the same award at the '92 Billboard Music Award ceremony.
