FINALLY BRANDO & CAMMELL'S BOOK FAN-TAN IS PUBLISHED

12 year friendhsip between Brando & Cammell, published Fan-Tan after both passed away.

Donald Cammell and Marlon Brando worked on a book together called Fan-Tan. The book never got close to publishing while both Cammell and Brando were alive. They argued all the time about what should be in the story and what should be left out. Brando was Cammell’s advice in what to put into the story they never agreed. After their deaths the book was finally published. Cammell was the co-author of the book and Brando’s name is on the front cover. Fan-Tan is full of stereotypes, lots of transitions and cluttered explanations. But the most intriguing part of this book is the character is based on Marlon Brando. So, the audience is captured to buy the book because of the background of what the book represents. Cammell and Brando met twelve years before in the hospital. Cammell wanted Brando to be a gangster in a performance, but Brando turned it down. He wanted producers, directors, and scriptwriters to beg for him. It was not the first time Brando turned down offers. Several years past and Brando asked Cammell if he would write a story about a sea captain and lady pirate that fall in love. After the book, made into a film. This is where Fan-Tan idea came from. Brando gave the advice of what was said in the novel but also, he owned the rights of the story. Brando most likely never read Fan-Tan after Cammell passed away. Too bad because it was his project all along.
