The life story of Fats Domino.
Antoine Dominique Domino was born and raised in Louisiana. He settled down in New Orleans. He is the best-selling black singer in the 50’s and the beginning 60’s. He is most famous for his gigs with the piano and the smooth vocals. He is also classic for his New Orleans R’n’B groove. He learned piano from his brother-in-law; he had seven siblings and did his first performance at 10-years-old. After that he started performing regularly. Domino was discovered by Dave Bartholomew, who became his mentor and then songwriting partner. When his career took off everyone called him The Fat Man, so he was widely known as the first rock and roll records, which sold more than a million copies in 1949, according to BBC. Domino reached Top 10 on the charts in 1955 with the song “Ain’t that a Shame” and than on there was a stream of hits. His last Top 40 hit was cover version of Lady Madonna originally by The Beatles. He still has a name for himself in today’s world and widely known in New Orleans. When Hurricane Katrina hit, he was at home with his wife. Domino was rescued by helicopter on Monday.
