JOAQUIN PHOENIX: ROLE OF JOHNNY CASH

Phoenix tells the tale about playing Johnny Cash.

River Phoenix’s brother Joaquin will be playing a lifetime role of the legendary singer Johnny Cash. The true story of Johnny Cash’s life is called, “Walk the Line”. There are similarities of Johnny Cash’s life and Joaquins both lost a brother at early stage of their lives. Many think this is a perfect role for Joaquins because he can relate to the emotions. Many believe that Joaquin to use his grief of losing his brother in his character. Joaquin has different feelings of taking on this movie not because both have a lost a brother but because Cash was an amazing performer. Plus for every role that an actor takes on he has to research his character. While filming, one scene is he just found out Cash’s brother is gone and he is also going through withdrawal of drugs, so he hits his head hard on the bedpost. This was Joaquin’s attempt to portray the character’s pain but others think he was expressing his own. Phoenix is very upset about these inclinations. He is just acting his character nothing more. Phoenix has been working extremely hard in transforming himself into role of Johnny Cash. He has mastered sounding just like Cash’s signature voice and playing 26 songs on the guitar. Oscar nominations should be flying towards Joaquin after this movie.
