The wrestler-turned-movie star grew up in Hawaii - and even landed a police record there following an arrest.

But he was treated like a returning hero when he showed up at his old school during a filming break.

He tells WENN, "It was a reflective moment driving through town looking at all the places that I got in trouble and arrested at for a multitude of things. To be able to bring a movie here, giving tens of millions of dollars to the locals and the local businesses is very special to me.

"I visited my high school unannounced and I haven't been there since I was 14. I wanted to go to visit the football field and weight room, where I spent so much time and started to understand the value of discipline and hard work. Word spread quickly that I was there and all the students gathered round and I had a quick word with them.

"I spoke with the principle first and wanted to know how the students and the school was doing and he was very happy and proud to tell me how well the students were doing. I told the students how, after all these years, it was great to come back and I told them to keep up the great work and keep chasing their greatness."

PIAF & DAVIS SET FOR JOINT STAMP TRIBUTES IN U.S. AND FRANCE

Late legends MILES DAVIS and EDITH PIAF are to be honoured this summer (Jun12) with an international stamp tribute.

Officials at the U.S. Postal Service and their counterparts at France's La Poste will issue new Forever stamps saluting the two stars.

Davis' daughter Cheryl is thrilled about the tribute, telling WENN, "On behalf of the Miles Davis family, we are honoured that the U.S. Postal Service and La Poste are paying homage to the timeless legacy of Sir Miles Dewey Davis."

Both musicians tasted massive success in both France and America - American Davis was awarded the Grande Medaille de Vermeil by the city of Paris in 1989, which was presented to him by Jacques Chirac, then mayor and later President of France.

French singer Piaf was beloved in America- the biopic La Vie En Rose earned actress Marion Cotillard an Oscar for her portrayal of the artist.

Both stamps will feature classic black and white photographs of the legends.

HECHE HAS 'COLLECTION OF ENGAGEMENT RINGS' FROM TUPPER'S PROPOSALS

Actress ANNE HECHE has built up a 'collection of engagement rings' from her boyfriend JAMES TUPPER after continually brushing off his marriage proposals.

The Hung star split from her then-husband Coley Laffoon in 2007 and subsequently began a relationship with her Men in Trees co-star Tupper.

Heche admits the actor has been asking her to marry him every year since, and while she hasn't exactly said no, she is putting off the thought of exchanging vows again because she's "not in love" with the idea.

Asked about her "engagement" on U.S. show The Talk on Thursday (26Jan12), she replied, "The longer (the engagement) the better. I say he can roll me down the aisle when I'm 60, 'cause that's probably where I'll be, in a wheelchair, but I'm so spoilt because he's asked me to marry him four years in a row so I have a collection of engagement rings..."

The proposals have become like tradition for the couple, and Tupper has since recruited Heche's nine-year-old son Homer, from her relationship with Laffoon, to convince his mum to walk down the aisle with him.

She explained, "They're so cute because Homer and he have made it a tradition of asking me together... I think it will be revealed to me if and when it's the right time (to marry)... It's just that it's working so well, I'm happy to say... I was a little not in love with marriage..."

But Heche, who also has another son, Atlas, with her boyfriend, admits she enjoys seeing what extravagant proposals Tupper and Homer come up with - and last year's (11) was truly romantic.

She said, "They get better and better. I was in Paris for one, which was kind of amazing, super duper amazing. This time... I was shooting Hung during my birthday and I came home, I was welcomed into the house with candlelight... It was kind of late and I come through the archway and dumped on top of me was confetti... I looked up and there was 600 balloons (sic), orange balloons all floated to the ceiling of our house with a box which floated down, strangely on cue, into my arms, and inside was a tiny little box. It was like being in a movie... In the box was a little box which said, 'Surprise' and I look down and Homer and James were on their knees."

BENNETT'S SON SCORES DEAL TO RELEASE DOCUMENTARY

TONY BENNETT is to be the subject of a new documentary directed by his manager son Danny.

The wannabe movie mogul has struck an exclusive deal with U.S. DVD distribution company Netflix to release a candid film about his father, titled The Zen of Bennett.

Danny used footage from 150 hours of recordings made during the studio sessions for his father's Duets II album, which featured collaborations with Lady Gaga and the late Amy Winehouse.

The film will premiere at two yet-to-be confirmed film festivals this year before it becomes available to stream via Netflix.com.

Danny Bennett tells The Hollywood Reporter, "It really is Tony talking first-person about philosophies, about family, art, music and how he has survived 60 years in this business."

But the filmmaker is sure the highlight of the documentary will be his father's studio chats with Winehouse: "You will see the recording with Amy and his discussions with her about her troubles."

COLLINS SPENT FOUR MONTHS LEARNING TO FENCE FOR MIRROR MIRROR

LILY COLLINS has mastered swordfighting thanks to an intensive four-month training regime to prepare her for her role as SNOW WHITE in MIRROR MIRROR.

The actress, who is rocker Phil Collins' daughter, studied fencing with professionals before shooting a pivotal fighting scene with co-star Armie Hammer.

She tells Britain's Empire magazine, "We were so proud when we finished the fight scene because the way (director) Tarsem (Singh) shot it proves it was really us (doing the stunts)."

And Collins insists the training has really paid off for her: "I think I could defend myself with a sword now, too. I could beat Armie. He's taller than me and he's really strong, plus he had the more formal training. But I got trained by dwarf bandits, so obviously I'd win... They're robbers, a band of professional thieves."

And Hammer adds, "That was my favourite bit (of the film). I can (now) fight with a sword! How many people can say that?"

KANYE WEST's ex AMBER ROSE is all set on settling down with rapper WIZ KHALIFA - once the busy couple can find time to be together for longer than a few days.

"We do want to get married and will get married, but we want to get married, enjoy each other, have babies and be able to take time off. We'll get married when things calm down a little bit."

And it appears her rapper beau is just as keen to exchange vows, insisting a wedding is definitely "gonna happen".

He tells Hollyscoop.com, "We're gonna get married when the time is right, we're enjoying each other, just having fun. Her music career is taking off. I would hate to stunt that, it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen."

Rose and Khalifa started dating in 2010.

TOP ROCK PHOTOGRAPHER MACNAUGHTAN DIES

RUSH's longtime photographer ANDREW MACNAUGHTAN has died after suffering a heart attack in Los Angeles.

The snapper was with the Canadian rockers when he died.

A statement from the band reads, "We're deeply shocked and heartbroken to learn of the sudden passing of our close friend and longtime photographer, Andrew MacNaughtan. He was a sweet person and a very talented artist. Words cannot describe how much he will be missed."

MacNaughtan's photos inspired an HIV/AIDS fundraising campaign in 2010 when artists like Rush pals Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, Celine Dion, Michael Buble and Annie Lennox gave their voices to a video montage of his images.

Former R.E.M. frontman MICHAEL STIPE has waded into a new decency debate after a video promoting PERFUME GENIUS' new album was pulled from YouTube.com.

The Everybody Hurts singer was appalled to learn that bosses of the video sharing website had banned the clip, featuring singer Mike Hadreas embracing a gay porn star.

Explaining the decision, YouTube chiefs insist the video violates the website's adult image policy, adding the footage "promoted mature sexual themes".

But Stipe insists the move is just "dumbheaded discrimination".

In a post on his blog, Stipe rants, "I've been listening to the new Perfume Genius record. It is a beautiful and amazing record and a stunning 2nd album and achievement. But in trying to advertise the record and first video, this short clip has been banned by YouTube.

"For YouTube to deem this advertisement as 'non family safe' is dumbheaded discrimination; I find their actions in doing so disgraceful and cowardly. YouTube, shame on you. You were born of the 21st Century, now act like it."

TRAVOLTA CAR THIEF JAILED

A man suspected of stealing JOHN TRAVOLTA's vintage Mercedes-Benz has been convicted and jailed on a charge of grand theft auto.

The Grease actor parked up his 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL convertible while he was visiting a Jaguar dealership in Santa Monica, California in September (11), only to discover it missing upon his return.

The car had been dismantled by the time police recovered it last month (Dec11) and they arrested two men, D.L. Rayford, Jr. and Michael T. Green, in connection with the case.

Rayford, Jr. pleaded no contest to the crime on 5 January (12) and he was sentenced to serve 16-months behind bars. He was also ordered to pay Travolta $50,000 (£31,250) in restitution.

Green has pleaded not guilty to two counts of grand theft auto and is due in court on 8 February (12).

Santa Monica Police Sergeant Richard Lewis announced the pair's arrest on Wednesday (25Jan12), explaining they had held back the information as their investigation into the suspects' links to a car-theft ring had been ongoing.
