DUFF NAMED BEST ACTRESS AT EVENING STANDARD BRITISH FILM AWARDS

Mum-to-be ANNE-MARIE DUFF paid special tribute to her actor husband JAMES MCAVOY as she accepted an acting prize at the Evening Standard British Film Awards on Monday (08Feb10).

The actress received the Best Actress honour for her turn as John Lennon's mother in Nowhere Boy and she used her acceptance speech to thank McAvoy, who was in the audience.

She cooed, "I'd really like to be Mrs. McAvoy for a minute and say thank you for seriously having to live with a flame-haired broken-hearted banjo player for quite some time."

It's going to be an exciting year for the happy couple - the McAvoys are expecting their first child together.

Also among the winners at the London Film Museum event, Fish Tank claimed the night's Best Film prize and Lord of The Rings star Andy Serkis was named Best Actor for his portrayal of disabled punk icon Ian Dury in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.

Serkis dedicated the award to the late Blockheads rocker: "Ian, wherever you are, this is for you."

Monty Python star Terry Gilliam was also on hand to present Sacha Baron Cohen with the Peter Sellers Award for Bruno, while veteran director Nicolas Roeg won a special award for his contribution to film.

MILLER'S EMBARRASSING WARDROBE MALFUNCTION

The pair joined Twilight stars Taylor Lautner and Kellan Lutz and Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick to show off their football skills at the 2010 DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl in South Beach, Miami.

But a defensive play from Arnold left Miller exposing her assets to the star-studded crowd when he grabbed the rear of her pants instead of the flag attached to her waist - in a bid to stop her from scoring.

The red-faced model was still a winner though - she was named the Most Valuable Player after the game.

WHITE UPSET WITH AIR FORCE RESERVE OVER SUPER BOWL AD

WHITE STRIPES star JACK WHITE has taken exception to a TV ad which aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday (07Feb10) - because he feels it ripped off his FELL IN LOVE WITH A GIRL hit.

The rocker and executives at his Third Man Records have complained about the U.S. Air Force Reserve's apparent "re-recording" of the tune.

In an online post, White and the record label bosses write, "We believe our song was re-recorded and used without permission of the White Stripes, our publishers, label or management.

"The White Stripes take strong insult and objection to the Air Force Reserve's presenting this advertisement with the implication that we licensed one of our songs to encourage recruitment during a war that we do not support.

"We have not licensed our song to the Air Force Reserve and we plan to take strong action to stop the ad containing this music."

SIDIBE'S MUM A BUSKER

GABOUREY SIDIBE's mum has made singing in New York City subways her full-time job.

Alice Tan Ridley, a former nursery school teacher, has been belting out R&B tunes in the subway for 18 years - and she insists she can support herself without relying on her actress daughter, who found fame and landed an Oscar nomination for her role in Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire.

Ridley tells the New York Post, "My name is not on Gabby's paycheck. For a while, I was teaching and doing the singing, burning the candle at both ends to support my family. When I come home at the end of the day, I have enough to pay my bills and feed my kids. People always say, 'Why don't you sing in clubs?' I tell 'em, 'This is my club.'"

Ridley is now attempting to raise funds by playing in the underground three times a week so she can buy new equipment and put on even bigger shows.

She explains, "My voice is so big that it's blown out my amp (amplifier), so I can't do more than that until I can afford a new amp."

The movie star slipped out of Miami, Florida after cheering the New Orleans Saints to victory and flew to Santo Domingo's Dario Contrera Hospital, where dozens of survivors of the 12 January (10) earthquake are receiving medical help.

A source claims Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, toured the hospital on Monday (08Feb10) and spoke with several patients, accompanied by Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, the son of Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa.

ELLEFSON RETURNS TO MEGADETH

MEGADETH's original bassist DAVE ELLEFSON is to rejoin the band for an upcoming tour to mark the 20th anniversary of the act's landmark RUST IN PEACE album.

Band frontman Dave Mustaine made the announcement on Monday (08Feb10), stating he was looking forward to playing with Ellefson again after an eight-year hiatus.

The bass player will perform with Megadeth on their upcoming spring (10) tour, when the group will play their 1990 album Rust In Peace in its entirety.

Mustaine says, "This shows the power of brotherly love and forgiveness. David Ellefson belongs in Megadeth."

Ellefson adds, "This is a huge moment for all of us, band and fans alike. It is a great celebration of the music from one of the biggest landmark albums of our career."

He'll replace James LoMenzo in the band.

Mustaine has thanked the departing bass player for his "years of loyal service on the bass", adding, "We wish him the very best."

BIG PUN'S SON MARKS 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF DEATH WITH SONG

Late hip-hop star BIG PUN has been remembered on the 10th anniversary of his death in a tribute track by his rapper son, BABY PUN.
The overweight MC, real name Christopher Lee Rios, died from a heart attack at the age of 28 on 7 February, 2000.

A decade later his memory lives on through Baby Pun, who has recorded a cover of his father's 1998 song Glamour Life.

Glamour Life 2010 features the teenage Pun rapping about his late dad, and Big Pun's widow, Lisa Rios, admits she is stunned by the likeness in father and son's looks and rapping style.

She says of the tribute track, "Baby Pun loves his father and wanted to follow his footsteps. It's just really crazy seeing Baby Pun because he looks just like his dad. He doesn't try to be his pops, he just naturally is."

FARRO TO MISS PARAMORE TOUR

PARAMORE guitarist JOSH FARRO is to miss the band's upcoming tour, so he can plan his wedding.

The newly-engaged rocker has chosen to skip a string of dates in order to stay at home in Tennessee and begin organising his nuptials with fiancee Jenna.

He will be replaced Paramore guitarist Taylor York's brother Justin.

In a post on Paramore's website, Farro writes, "As weird as it is to stay behind, I need to take some time off to plan the wedding and everything. Because of that I will not be joining the guys on the Pacific rim tour coming up.

"The band has been extremely supportive and gracious to me about all of this which has made it a lot easier. Justin York will be filling in for me as a favor. He's an awesome dude, you all will love him.

"Trust me, I know it's strange having someone 'fill in' for me. I don't like it anymore than you guys do, but this is the most important thing in the world to me and I trust you all will understand. The Lord has blessed me with the most amazing woman and for that I am eternally grateful."

The star ends his note by assuring fans the hiatus isn't permanent, adding, "I will be back soon! Don't worry! I shall see you all very soon."

The Misery Business hitmakers are due to play a handful of shows in Japan beginning later this week (10Feb10), before making stops in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

JOHNSONS TO PLAY WITH 103-YEAR-OLD ICON'S DAUGHTER

CARRADINE'S EX SENTENCED FOR PERJURY

Actor KEITH CARRADINE's ex-wife SANDRA has pleaded guilty to perjury charges after trying to cover up incarcerated former Hollywood private detective ANTHONY PELLICANO's wiretapping methods.

Sandra Carradine was sentenced to 400 hours of community service, two years of probation and a $10,000 (£6,250) fine in Los Angeles on Monday (08Feb10).

She confessed to paying Pellicano to investigate her ex-husband during a child custody dispute in 2001, and lying under oath to a federal grand jury in 2004 to conceal Pellicano's wiretapping of her ex's phone calls.

The detective is serving a 15-year prison sentence for wiretapping, conspiracy and other crimes.

JACKSONS UNHAPPY WITH COURT OUTCOME & CHARGES

MICHAEL JACKSON's family members are far from pleased with the involuntary manslaughter charge the King of Pop's former doctor pleaded not guilty to in Los Angeles on Monday (08Feb10).

Dr. Conrad Murray walked free from court after posting $75,000 (£47,000) bail, shortly after Jackson's parents, brothers Tito and Jermaine and sister LaToya left the building near Los Angeles International Airport.

And speaking to the media, Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson's lawyer Brian Oxman revealed many members of the clan were unhappy and disappointed that the physician was charged only with involuntary manslaughter.

Oxman tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "There was danger to human life. I knew it; everyone else who knew about the prescription medication knew it. To say the perpetrator didn't know it I find to be unacceptable.

"They (family members) thought the charges should be more serious than involuntary manslaughter. There was disregard for the safety of human life.

"This charge is a slap on the wrist. There's great disappointment here. He should've been charged with a higher degree of responsibility. What he did was reckless."

Murray, who has denied any wrongdoing, surrendered to face allegations of administering a lethal dose of the hospital anaesthetic propofol to the late singer.

The members of Jackson's family who were in court filed out through a throng of reporters and paparazzi and said nothing to the media.

They greeted fans from two black SUVs and then drove off.

JACKSON AUTOPSY RELEASED AS DOCTOR PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER

The Los Angeles Coroner has confirmed reports MICHAEL JACKSON died of 'acute propofol intoxication' after he was given a powerful anaesthetic used to relax patients before 'major surgery'.

In an autopsy report, released on Monday (08Feb10) by the Los Angeles County coroner's office, the authorities ruled Jackson was administered the drug in a manner that did not meet agreed medical standards.

Examiners wrote, "The standard of care for administering propofol was not met (and) recommended equipment for patient monitoring, precision dosing, and resuscitation was not present."

The release of the autopsy came as Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, pleaded not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter.

Dr. Murray stands accused of administering the anaesthetic, which killed Jackson.

Murray was released on $75,000 (£47,000) bail and had to surrender his passport.

The judge told Murray he cannot use or prescribe anaesthetics for the foreseeable future, stating, "I do not want you sedating people."

Wylde almost died after he was diagnosed with a rare blood clotting disorder in August (09), and was forced to pull his band off the bill of the Pedal To The Metal Tour when he was hospitalised in Eugene, Oregon.

In a Twitter.com post to fans, she writes, "Craig has quit the band and we will have a new drummer very soon."
